Breast Enlargement Procedure

- Periareolar - The doctor makes an incision around the bottom border of the nipple, making the scar from the procedure relatively unnoticeable.
- Infra-mammary - The doctor makes an incision along the crease beneath the breast. Swimwear and undergarments easily conceal these scars.
- Axilla - For those who want to avoid any noticeable scarring on the breasts, the doctor can also make an incision in the armpit to insert the breast implant.
After making the incision, the surgeon creates a pocket beneath the breast tissue or chest muscle that holds the breast implant. Doing so creates a more natural look by disguising the outline of the implant beneath the tissue. After Breast Enlargement
Breast surgery is an invasive procedure that requires the use of general anesthesia, and consequently does take several days of recovery. There will be some noticeable pain during the recovery phase, but it can be easily managed with pain medication provided by our doctors. Immediately after their procedure, our breast augmentation patients are provided with a special support bra as well as bandages and support that aid in healing upon returning home from our clinic.
Approximately a week after breast surgery, patients are able to return to work and in two to four weeks, can resume all regular activities. Scars will fade gradually after the procedure.
To aid in the recovery times and reduce the inherent discomfort from the procedure, the San Diego Plastic Surgery clinic uses Exparel to manage pain. Exparel is a new, innovative technique that our very own plastic surgeons were involved with during initial testing.
