Strattice™ Reconstructive Tissue Matrix (TM) is a soft, natural product from LifeCell™ that is designed to reinforce weak or inadequate tissue and to support the growth of your own tissure. Derived from porcine dermis, it's a strong, flexible and sterile product.
After breast surgery, some women experience conditions referred to as Bottoming Out, Fold Malposition, Symmastia, Wrinkling and Rippling that can be corrected with the use of Strattice™.
In our La Jolla plastic surgery practice, we are one of very few West Coast facilities that have adopted this product for use in a cosmetic surgery context. Historically, this product has been utilized for reconstructive purposes, but Dr. John Smoot quickly recognized it on our team of physicians as an effective cosmetic enhancement tool that could be successfully utilized to supplement the positive outcomes of cosmetic breast enhancement procedures. Dr. Smoot has developed a technique incorporating the Strattice product resulting in a very successful outcome. He has been invited by the manufacturer to lecture on this topic in front of hundreds of plastic surgeons throughout the U.S. and has imparted this technique to his practice colleagues who have also mastered the procedure.
