Over the past year we have been placing a cellular dermal matrix material into the breast pocket of our patients that have capsular contracture (scar tissue formation).  The outcome has been less occurence of capsular contracture with the placement of this material.  Although it is costly, it is well worth it to the patients to not have to have additional surgery for capsular contracture.   Our doctors have found that without doing anything different in surgery to avoid capsular contracture once it has happened there is a higher chance that it will occur again.  With the placement of the a cellular dermal matrix it has significantly reduced the capsular contracture from re-occuring.
